Douchebag Meme of the Day

November 8, 2010

Even with his reported weight loss, and even with Chris Christie’s emergence as a right-wing hero, Rush Limbaugh remains the Right’s Biggest, Fattest, Douchieist Jerk. Remember back at the beginning of the Obama Administration, when there was a lot of talk (on the Left) of Rush’s place as the de facto leader of the Republican Party? Remember how each and every time a Republican politician crossed Rush in any way, not 24 hours passed before they were on their hands and knees before him, kissing his ring and begging forgiveness?

Then, the Tea Party happened – and Glenn Beck’s star rose in the sky – and though he continued to be just as big a blow-hard as ever, we on the Left lost interest. There was much bigger crazy out there, now! The thing is, the “Ditt0-heads” never stopped listening to Limbaugh. They never deserted him for Glenn; and Rush’s brand of crazy still finds its way, perhaps now more than ever, into main-stream Republican talking points. So should we be surprised with his latest assault on reason, compassion, and all that’s good in the world? Of course not.

Considering that the GOP is now entirely wedded to the repeal of the Affordable Care Act; given that the Tea Party elements will accept nothing less (despite the numerous ways in which this runs contrary to their personal interests) ; and given that the bill’s ban on  pre-existing conditions is by far its most popular provision, it should surprise absolutely no one that Limbaugh is now

making his followers believe that the pre-existing condition provision in the health care reforms is something bad and shameful. The reason he’s doing this, of course, is because this is the most popular piece of the bill and the one on which the rest of it hinges. If they can divide people on that, the repeal of the plan will be much easier.

On his show today, Limbaugh told his millions of listeners that

Pre-existing condition coverage is not insurance; it’s welfare.

This isn’t just a case of Rush saying something outlandish that we can guffaw over – be on the look-out for this talking point to infiltrate GOP and Tea Party rhetoric in the months ahead. This is why he wins today’s coveted  “Douchebag Meme” of the day award!

Here’s the douchebag himself, in his own words:
