Who ARE These People? Clueless RNC Delegates Talk “Choice”

September 1, 2012

The Daily Show put out some fantastic content this week in Tampa, in my estimation far surpassing 90% of the coverage by “actual journalists”. But for me, the best work of the week was this sublime piece by Samantha Bee, ostensibly about Mitt Romney’s freedom to “choose” for himself whether or not to embrace the GOP platform (with its abortion ban without exception for rape or incest.) Talk about a lack of self-awareness…

You have to wonder if the interviews were staged. Those people were unrealistically clueless and allowed the interviewer to be demeaning, rude, and overbearing.

Since we’re talking a comedy show, staged interviews are indeed a possibility. However, when Republicans post interviews of clueless liberals, no one seems to question their authenticity.

Believe me, a good 33% of this country are half-wits. It’s a wonder we’ve gotten as far as we have. More folks watched Honey Boo Boo than Mitt Romney Thursday night.

It is a hallmark of the Daily Show (and Colbert as well) that people gladly sit for these interviews. Why would I believe these interviews are staged anymore than any of those Colbert conducts with sitting congressmen in which they end up looking just as ridiculous as these folks?
And for what it’s worth, nothing is an demeaning, rude and overbearing as Republican policy on a woman’s reproductive rights.

I don’t have cable. When I did I watched The Daily Show religiously. Thanks for the update.

I finally watched my TiVo recording of this earlier today. Truly classic. Truly makes one doubt the intelligence of the average GOP voter. The other classic bit this week was Stewart saying that the Clint empty chair was a metaphor for the evil Obama that only Republicans can see. That evil socialist Obama is invisible to the rest of us. 🙂
