Michele Bachmann Inadvertently Gives Big Boost To Gay Marriage in Minnesota [Updated]

May 13, 2013

If you were a Minnesota state senator wavering over your vote today on whether or not to legalize same-sex marriage, this might just put you over the top as a ‘yea’ vote:

Republican Michele Bachmann has threatened to leave the US state of Minnesota if its Senate votes to legalise equal marriage today. […]

Speaking to local television station KSTP-TV this morning Bachmann said: ”Homosexuality is a sin, and God will punish communities that support it.

“Sodom and Gomorrah thought they could defy the will of God – and we all know what happened to them. If the governor signs this legislation into law the Minneapolis-St. Paul region will be next.

“I have a friend from Eden Prairie who’s already packed everything she owns into her car and is driving out to Montana as we speak. These are very scary times. I don’t want my family to be the last ones out.” (Pink News)

So you tell me: promoting equal rights for all and ridding the state of Michele Bachmann — where’s the downside on that vote?

UPDATE: My source above, Pink News, has apparently been duped (and I in turn) by a post at The Daily Currant, which is a satire site. They unfortunately didn’t link to the Currant, so it took me a little research to discover this. Still, it says an awful lot about Bachmann that the story is so believable. Don’tcha think?

Just as well. She’d probably get lost trying to find her way out.
