Michele Bachmann To Leave Congress — (And the crowd goes wild!)

May 29, 2013

It is still early here on the West coast, but I found I couldn’t sleep any longer this morning. There was a disturbance in the force. And the news is good, kids…

Buh-Bye!I wrote last week that we wouldn’t have Michele Bachmann to kick around much longer. Between her investigation by the Office of Congressional Ethics, and her investigation by the Federal Elections Commission, and her investigation by an Iowa state Senate ethics committee, and her newest investigation by the FBI, and not to mention polling showing her trailing the same Democrat she barely beat just a few months ago, things were looking pretty grim for Bachmann’s reelection in 2014. Today, we’ve learned just how serious these investigations are shaping up to be.

Michele Bachmann has announced that she will not seek reelection.  The video Bachmann released this morning makes it clear (multiple times!) that her decision has  n-o-t-h-i-n-g to do with the investigation(s) and that she would totally have beat the snot out of her opponent in 2014, and seriously, it’s just that the law says eight years is long enough for any president, and she was so almost close to being president anyway, and… and… I think we can all see that for what it is.

Rather than post Bachmann’s video, I’ve chosen to post a video more representative of the internet’s mood this morning:

Yes, Michele Bachmann is trending on Twitter (see below for a taste), and the intertubes are aflutter, as people react with unrestrained glee. (Although we should all take a quick moment of silence for all the easy page-views so soon to be lost for political blogs such as this.) 😦

Okay. I have to post Bachmann’s video. It’s just. too. funny.

The trouble is now we won’t have her around to kick around anymore! (moan). There’s always Louie, however!

You’re way too easy. A resignation would have been ten times better. Getting her arse whupped in the 2014 election would have been five times better. But I guess we should be thankful for small bits of progress.

It is only fair to note that during the Presidential campaign, Bachmann actually came off as one of the saner candidates. What that says about the others is disturbing. 🙂
